So….let’s get busy!! 🙂

For this pattern you will need:
  • Yarn

(For the bag I used 3 strands of „Ice yarn – Color fine“, weight:  153 yards (140 meters) in  50 grams (1.76 ounces) and for the bottle cozy 1 strand of „Ice yarn – Design wool“, weight:  207 yards (190 meters) in  100 grams (3.53 ounces)) but you can use any yarn that you like working with

  • 6 mm crochet hook (or hook required for your yarn)
  • yarn needle

Stitches used:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • fphdc – front post half double crochet
  • slst – slip stitch

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

Leave about 50 – 60 cm (20 – 25 inches) long end and start by making multiple of 4 chains + 2 until you reach desired size.

Decide what width you want your bag to be and make a chain double that width, for the bottle cozy measure bottle circumference and make chain that long.

Row 1: 1 hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in every chain to the end, slst in the first hdc that you made to join the ring. (Be careful not to twist your work.)

Row 2: Ch 2, fphdc in the same hdc that you made slst in

3 hdc between that fphdc and next hdc

*skip next 3 hdc, fphdc in next

3 hdc between that fphdc and next hdc

continue from * to the end, slst in the first fphdc.

Row 3: Ch 2, fphdc in the same fphdc that you made slst in, *3 hdc between that fphdc and next hdc, fphdc in next fphdc, repeat from * to the end, slst in the first fphdc.

From now repeat row 3 until you reach your desired bag or bottle cozy hight.

We will now make 6 rows for finish.

Row 1: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in every stitch around, slst in the first hdc.

Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, *1 sc in next 3 stitches, skip 1 stitch, repeat from * to the end, slst in the first sc.

Rows 4, 5 and 6: Ch 1, 1 sc in every stitch around, slst in the first sc. Fasten off.

Now it’s time to close the bottom.

To close the bag insert starting tail through yarn needle and horizontally pull through every few stitches around starting chain on both sides. At the end tie a few knots and weave in end.

To close the bottle cozy, pull the starting tail every few stitches around starting chain and tighten at the end, tie a few knots and weave in end.

Now make the straps.

For the bag I made a longer straps (150 cm/60 in) so I can wear the bag over my shoulders but you can make any size you want.

Start with chain until you reach the desired size. Make 1 hdc in 3rd chain from the hook and in every chain to the end. Fasten off.

For the bag make 2 and for bottle cozy make 1.

Now pull the strap through the bag and tie a knot to secure it.

If you want you can also make the bows same way you did the straps and tie them to the straps as a decoration.
