FREE CROCHET PATTERN: Gigantic flower

Today I made this gigantic flower with pom pom in center!
I am in LOVE!
I keep staring in it….LOL
This shade of green is fabulous!
But I think I will be making it in so many more colors! 🙂

This flower is designed with much love and positive energy and there are no advertisements on this page so you can follow the pattern without distraction!
If you would like to download printable pdf file for this pattern you can download it from Etsy or Ravelry for a small fee!

Let’s make one!!! 🙂

For this pattern you will need:

  • Yarn

I used „Alize – Lanagold fine“, weight:  Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi), 426 yards (390 meters) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces)) but you can use any other yarn similar to this one here is also the link to Ravelry about that yarn http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/alize-lanagold-fine

  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • yarn needle

Stitches used:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • slst – slip stitch

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

MAKE 6 PETALS!

Row 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from the hook, slst in the 1st sc from beginning.

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in the same sc that you made slst, 2 sc in every stitch around, slst in the 1st sc from beginning.

Row 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in the same sc that you made slst, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the 1st sc from beginning.

Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in the same sc that you made slst, 1 sc in next, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the 1st sc from beginning.

Row 5: Ch 1, 1 sc in the same sc that you made slst, 1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the 1st sc from beginning.

Row 6: Ch1, 1 sc in every stitch around, when you come to the end of the row don’t make slst, from now we will work in round without join at the end so there will be no seam.

You can put a stitch marker or piece of yarn just below this row, I just pull my starting tail through so I know where my round begins.

Continue to work 1 sc in every stitch until you have 14 or 15 rounds. Fasten off, but leave little longer tail so we can tighten the petal.

Fold the petal in half and bring the ends back up, with yarn needle pull the tail through.

Pull the tail through several times and tie a few knots to tighten it. Wave in end.

Take a piece of yarn and pull it through all petals. I used double strand so I can tighten it firmly.

Tie a knot to secure the petals.

Now it’s time to make a pom pom for the center!

Wrap contrasting color yarn around two fingers about 20 times, than about 5 times with green.

Repeat 20 white – 5 green 4 or 5 times so you will have about 100 – 120 wraps.

Take it off and tie in the middle as tight as you can with the piece of yarn.

Cut through the loops

and trim it a little so you get nice ball.

Tie it to the flower with the same yarn that you tied the middle of the pom-pom.

And you’re finished!

I hope you enjoyed making this flower as much as I did!

Happy crocheting! 🙂
