FREE CROCHET PATTERN: LORI fingerless gloves

LET ME TELL YOU A SECRET!!!!
I LOOOOOVE fingerless gloves!!! 🙂
They are so great and whoever invented them is a GENIUS!!!
I hate when I have to take off my gloves to call someone, or pay for my groceries, or check out what’s new on Facebook, or write a message, or take something from my bag (and we all know how woman bag looks like … LOL) …. these gloves are marvelous for all those situations and many more!
And …. I like to keep my fingers free!! hehehe
As I have made many of them here is a pattern I am sure you will love!
LORI fingerless gloves are so delicate and feminine!

These gloves are designed with much love and positive energy and there are no advertisements on this page so you can follow the pattern without distraction!
If you would like to download printable pdf file for this pattern you can download it from Etsy or Ravelry  for a small fee!

So….let’s make them!! 🙂

For this pattern you will need:

  • Yarn

(I used „Ice yarn – Soft Baby Magic“, weight:  DK, Light, Worsted, 251 yards (230 meters) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces)) but you can use any other yarn similar to this one

  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • yarn needle

GAUGE: 4 hdc /3 rows in 2,5 cm/1 inch square

Stitches used:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • fpdc – front post double crochet
  • bpdc – back post double crochet
  • slst – slip stitch

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

Pattern is written in one size for adult but you can make more or less rows to make it in other size if you want.

Start by making 31 chains.

Row 1: 1 hdc in the second chain from the hook, 1 hdc in every chain to the end, slst in the first hdc that you made to join the ring.

You should have 30 stitches.

You will have 30 stitches in every row to the end.

Row 2:

Ch 2, 1  fpdc in the same stitch you did slst, 1 bpdc in next, *1 fpdc in next, 1 bpdc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the firs fpdc.

This is how you do fpdc and bpdc (front post double crochet and back post double crochet):

Do not insert hook through the two loops of the next stitch like you normally would but through the post of half double crochet from previous row like it is shown on the picture. Yarn over, and then continue the usual way for double crochet. For fpdc you’re inserting hook from front, and for bpdc you’re inserting hook from behind.

After a few stitches you should see ribbing like the ones on the picture:

Row 3-5:

Ch 2, *fpdc in every fpdc from previous row, bpdc in every bpdc from previous row (repeat from * around), slst in first fpdc.

Note: If you want you can make more or less rows of fpdc-bpdc.

Row 6:

Ch 3, skip 4 stitches, 5 dc in the fifth stitch, *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space. (You just made 6 shell’s)

Row 7:

Slst in next 3 stitches, ch 3, 4 dc in the same stitch (we are counting ch 3 as 1 dc), *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space.

Note: You will make 1 shell (5 dc’s) in the third dc of the shell from previous row –  the center of the shell.

Row 8-13: Slst in next 2 stitches, ch 3, 4 dc in the same stitch (we are counting ch 3 as 1 dc), *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space.

Note: You can make more or less rows of shells if you want bigger or smaller gloves.

Row 14: Repeat row 8 but don’t join in the end, when you make your last shell, ch 1, turn.

Row 15: Slst in next 3 stitches, ch 3, 4 dc in the same stitch (we are counting ch 3 as 1 dc), *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space to join again, ch 1, turn.

You just made a hole for the finger. 🙂

Row 16: Slst in next 3 stitches, ch 3, 4 dc in the same stitch (we are counting ch 3 as 1 dc), *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space.

Rows 17 and 18: Slst in next 2 stitches, ch 3, 4 dc in the same stitch (we are counting ch 3 as 1 dc), *skip next 4 stitches, 5 dc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the ch 3 space.

Row 19: Ch 2, 1 hdc in the ch 3 that you made slst in, 1 hdc in every stitch around, slst in the first hdc from beginning. (You should have 30 hdc stitches)

Row 20: Ch 1, slst in the same stitch that you made slst to join row, (slst, chain 3, slst) in next stitch, *slst in next, (slst, chain 3, slst) in next, repeat from * around, slst in ch 1 from beginning.

Row 21: Ch 2, sc in ch 3 space, ch 2, *sc in ch 3 space, ch 2,  repeat from * around, slst in ch 2 from beginning.

Row 22: Ch 2, (slst, chain 3, slst) in next sc, *1 sc in ch 2 space, (slst, chain 3, slst) in next sc, repeat from * around, slst in ch 2 from beginning. Fasten off.

Wave in ends and you’re DONE!!! 🙂
