LOOPY LOOP crochet basket!

Multi-purpose, ultra sweet,

LOOPY LOOP basket crochet pattern!

In this post I will show you how to make two sizes of the basket.

First for our precious hooks and needles and other cute stuff we use

(or pencils if you want to make it for someone as a gift)

and second for sweets so you can treat yourself while working. 🙂

Size of the first basket is about 7 cm/3 in wide and 9 cm/3.5 in high

and second basket is about 10 cm /4 in wide and 5 cm/2 in high

For this pattern you will need:

Yarn – I used „Alize – Lanagold fine“, weight:  Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi), 426 yards (390 meters) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces)) but you can use any other yarn similar to this one here is also the link to Ravelry about that yarn http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/alize-lanagold-fine

Use two strands of yarn because it will be more “fluffy” when you come to the loops and your basket will be firm.

4 mm crochet hook

yarn needle

Stitches used:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

ls – loop stitch (below is picture tutorial how to make the loops so all your loops will be the same size! :))

slst – slip stitch

LET’S START!

FIRST BASKET

Row 1: Ch 2, 8 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, slst in the first sc that you made.

Row 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in the same stitch that you made slip stitch and in every stitch around, slst in the first hdc that you made.

Row 3: Ch 1, make one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Row 4: Ch 1, make one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Row 5: Ch 1, one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Rows 6 – 17: Ch 1, make one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in every stitch around, slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Fasten off if you want to make loops in different color and add beads, if you don’t than just ch 1 and turn.

I wanted to make loops in different color and with beads for this first basket so I put some beads on my second color yarn and started making loops.

I used about 35 beads, you can use more if you like, it is important that at this moment you add as much beads as you want because you will not be able to add them later, so better more than less. 🙂 You can choose the size of the beads only thing important about size is that they have hole big enough so you can put them on yarn. 🙂 You can play with size and find the one that suit you more.

Now let’s get back to crocheting.

Here is a tutorial how to make the loops. They are not so hard to make once you figure them out. Actually they are just extended single crochet and you will get very fast after few stitches. I like to do them this way because when you wrap the yarn around your finger all the loops will be the same size.

Row 18: Ch1, 1 ls in every stitch around, slst in the 1st ls from beginning.

Rows 19 and 20: Repeat row 18.

When you are adding bead, pull it down and position it on your middle finger so it will end up on the loop. I didn’t count stitches between the beads, I wanted them to be random. 🙂

Row 21: Attach first color, ch 1, turn, 1 sc in every stitch around. Fasten off.

I used ordinary glass to make it firm. You can use any glass or plastic container that you have to make the basket more stable.

And you’re done! 🙂

SECOND BASKET

I made this one wider and lower so you can easily access your treats 🙂

Row 6: Ch 1, one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Row 7: Ch 1, make one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, *1 sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in next (repeat from * around), slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Rows 8 – 13: Ch 1, make one sc in the same sc that you made slst in, 1 sc in every stitch around, slst in the sc from the beginning of the row.

Fasten off if you want to make loops in different color and add beads, if you don’t than just ch 1 and turn. I made this one all in same color and without beads.

Row 14: Ch1, 1 ls in every stitch around, slst in the 1st ls from beginning.

Rows 15 and 16: Repeat row 14.

Row 17: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in every stitch around. Fasten off.

And you’re done with the second basket! 🙂
