FREE CROCHET PATTERN: 10″ tablet case

My daughter bought a tablet last week and instead of buying her a case for it I decided to make one! After all I do crochet hehehe
I sooo wanted to try Repeat Crafter Me bear graph so I thought it is perfect for this occasion! 🙂 I did have to “shrink” him a little to fit the tablet size but I think the result is fabulous!
I made the bear in the back and heart on the front because I didn’t want that lid cover his face.
If you would like to make one yourself please follow instructions below! I really hope you’ll enjoy! 🙂

For this pattern you will need:

  • Yarn

I used „Unitas Mirabela“, 100% cotton, weight: Sport/5 ply, 155 yards (142 meters) in 50 grams (1.76 ounces). You can use some of these brands if they are available to you for this pattern Aunt Lydia’s fashion 3 size 100% Mercerized cotton or “Patons Grace” 100% mercerized cotton or any other similar to these.

  • 2 mm crochet hook
  • yarn needle

Stitches used:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • slst – slip stitch

This pattern is worked in C2C technique in U.S. crochet terms.

Finished size of the case is about 18cm/7in x 26cm/10.2in when closed and 18cm/7in x 31cm/12.2in when open.

First we need to make front (heart) and back (bear)!!

Heart graph is 19×30 squares and bear graph is 19×35 squares.

When you finish making graphs it is time to make the border.

Row 1: Attach yarn in one of the corners and make 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc in same stitch….

…. *ch 2, 1 sc between the blocks of dc’s, repeat from * all around, only in corners make 1 sc, ch 2, 1sc in same stitch. Slst in the first sc that you made.

Row 2: Ch 1, in every ch 2 space make 3 sc, all around, slst in the first sc that you made. Fasten off.

Now it’s time to join two sides.

Place them rear to rear and insert hook through sc of both sides, attach yarn, make 1 sc, continue making 1 sc in every stitch through both sides until all three sides are joined. Fasten off.

For the flower and string I used 3 mm crochet hook and two strands of yarn.

Make a flower:

Start with chain 4, slst in first chain to join in a ring.

Round 1:

*ch 3, sc into the ring, repeat from * 5 times.

Round 2:

*slst in 3ch space, ch 1, 3 dc in same 3ch space, ch 1, slst in same space, repeat from * 5 times.

And a string of about 50 chains.

Pull the string through the “lid” and through the flower and tie a knot. Cut of extra yarn. You will have a loop left for the button. Tie some cute button for closure.

I hope you enjoyed it and that you love your new tablet case! 🙂
