Let’s start!

For this pattern you will need:

  • cotton yarn

I used Patons 4 ply 100% mercerized cotton.

  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • 2 mm crochet hook (for the earrings)
  • yarn needle

Use a double strand of cotton yarn for brooch, key chain, ponytail band…. it will make it bigger and for earrings use one strand.

Stitches used:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • slst – slip stitch

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

Start with ch 5 for four leaf clover or ch 4 for three leafs, slst in first ch to form a ring.

Row 1:
*Ch 5 (try to make them loosely), 1 sc in second chain from the hook, 1 sc in other 3 chains, 1 sc into the ring, repeat from * three more times for four leaf clover and two more times for three leafs

Now we’ll make the stem, ch 11 (make them tight), 1 sc in second chain from the hook, 1 sc in the next 9 ch. Since you made the chains tight the stem will bend when you make sc.

Row 2:
You are working in the chain now, 1 sc in first chain, 2 hdc in next, 3 dc in next, 2 dc – 2 ch – slst in next

Now we need to make the other side of the leaf. You are working in sc.
Start with slst – 2 ch – 2dc in first sc, 3 dc in next, 2 hdc in next, 1 sc in next, slst in next sc (the one that is made into the ring)

Repeat from the beginning 3 more times for four leaf clover and 2 more times for three leafs. Fasten off. And you’re done!!! How easy was that?!!! πŸ™‚

I added a little gold glitter for extra luck πŸ˜‰

I hope you enjoyed it!
You can embellish anything you want or make earrings, brooch, ponytail band, headband…. make key chain (just add ch 15 between second and third leaf!
Here are my shamrock accessories… For my first year in Ireland I have to have some! πŸ™‚
