So, if you are ready, LET’S START! ๐Ÿ™‚

For this pattern you will need:

  • Yarn

( I used โ€žUschi โ€“ Super Preisโ€œ, fiber: 100 % polyacryl, 145 yards (133 meters) in 50 grams (1.76 ounces)) but you can use any other similar yarn that you like working with

Here are some yarn brands that I recommend for this pattern: RED HEART Detroit, RED HEART Lisa, CARON Cupcakes, KING COLE Melody DK, LOOPS & THREADS Kai, PAINTBOX YARNS Simply DK, PATONS Baby Fab DK or PATONS Fairytale Fab DK

  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • yarn needle
  • beads (optional)

Stitches used:

  • ch โ€“ chain
  • chsc โ€“ chainless single crochet
  • slst โ€“ slip stitch
  • sc โ€“ single crochet
  • dc โ€“double crochet
  • tr โ€“ triple crochet

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

Row 1:

Make even number of chsc until you reach 21 inches/53.5 cm

This is how you do chainless single crochet stitch:

First:

Chain two

Insert hook under top two loops of first chain

Yarn over, pull through the two loops of the first chain

Yarn over, pull through one loop

Yarn over, pull through two loops

Second (and all other) stitches:

Insert hook in chain part of previous stitch under left and back strands of chain part

Yarn over, pull through

Yarn over, pull through one loop

Yarn over, pull through two loops (single crochet part)

repeat to end.

If you still don’t understand how to make chainless foundation here is a great video how to do it:

Chainless foundation video tutorial

To finish this row join with slst in the first chsc.

Row 2:

Ch 2, 1 dc in the same stitch you made slst in, 1 dc in every stitch to the end, slst in first dc.

Row 3:

Ch 2, 1 fpdc in the same stitch you made slst in, 1 bpdc in next, *1 fpdc in next, 1 bpdc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the first fpdc. You should end this row with bpdc.

This is how you do fpdc and bpdc (front post double crochet and back post double crochet):

Do not insert hook through the two loops of the next stitch like you normally would but through the post of half double crochet from previous row like it is shown on the picture. Yarn over, and then continue the usual way for double crochet. For fpdc you’re inserting hook from front, and for bpdc you’re inserting hook from behind.

Here are several fpdc-bpdc made

Row 4:

Ch 2, 1 fpdc in the same stitch you made slst in, 1 bpdc in next, *1 fpdc in next, 1 bpdc in next, repeat from * to the end, slst in the first fpdc. (Make 1 fpdc in fpdc from previous row, 1 bpdc in bpdc from previous row)

Repeat row 4 until you reach 3.2 inches/8 cm for ADULT size!

Row 5:

Ch 1, 1 sc in same stitch you made slst in, 1 sc in every stitch to the end, slst in first sc. Fasten off.

You can decorate the warmer with hearts or flowers and put some beads if you want.

For my ear warmers I made  1 heart/flower holding one strand of yarn and 1 heart/flower holding two strands of yarn to get one smaller one bigger.

HEART PATTERN:

Ch 4, make all stitches in the first chain that you made โ€“ 2 tr, 3 dc, 1 ch, 1 tr, 1 ch, 3 dc, 2 tr, 3 ch, slst. Fasten off.

FLOWER PATTERN:

Start with chain 4, slst in first chain to join in a ring.

Row 1:

*ch 3, sc into the ring, repeat from * 5 more times.

Row 2:

*slst in 3ch space, ch 1, 3 dc in same 3ch space, ch 1, slst in same space, repeat from * 5 more times. Fasten off.

Tie them to the warmer and if you want glue on beads!

Weave in all ends!
AND YOUโ€™RE DONE! ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope you enjoyed it and that you love your new ear warmer! ๐Ÿ™‚
